About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain facility production and equipment mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Carry out work safely while following electrical codes, equipment manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints and other specifications
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment for daily tasks
  • Support continuous improvement activities to increase facility SIS efficiency
  • Provide emergency and unscheduled production equipment repairs during production
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and machine servicing
  • Identify mechanical defects using touch, sight and sound and repair equipment according to GMP, safety procedures, and local building and safety codes
  • Complete daily mechanic time sheets and sign off work orders and preventive maintenance sheets
  • Return completed paperwork to the planner scheduler
  • Maintain radio contact with the planner scheduler, foremen, and maintenance department supervisors
  • Operate shop tools and equipment such as lathes and drill presses to repair equipment or fabricate simple parts
  • Follow food safety policies, procedures, current SQF code, GMPs, FSMA, and associated preventive controls
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 5-10 years of journey level experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance of industrial equipment
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts and operating safety
  • Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools commonly used in electrical and mechanical trades
  • Basic knowledge of PLC operation
  • Must complete and pass all mandatory safety, GMP and SQF training classes
  • Ability to work onsite in Waukesha, Wisconsin
  • Willingness to work third shift
  • Travel may be required
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and occasional lifting or moving up to 50 pounds or more with assistance
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work 8-12 hour shifts, with possible unscheduled time after hours and on weekends
  • Ability to work in adverse temperatures, around vibrations, chemicals, fumes, food allergens, confined and dark spaces, and heights exceeding 18 feet
