About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan and manage materials replenishment for assigned items or supply categories
  • Plan and execute packaging and ingredient materials to meet inventory and customer fill-rate metrics
  • Analyze changing material demand patterns and interface with vendors
  • Oversee and improve vendor performance
  • Manage new product introductions, engineering changes, and customer conversions
  • Manage vendor purchase-order changes
  • Process customer order inquiries, schedule changes, and cancellations
  • Research and correct material inventory discrepancies
  • Manage slow-moving and obsolete inventory to minimize financial-statement impact
  • Collaborate with Master Data Management to maintain accurate planning attributes
  • Review MRP exception messages daily
  • Release, cancel, expedite, and modify purchase orders according to exception messages
  • Communicate material replenishment-plan changes to production planners and other functional groups
  • Serve as primary supplier contact for day-to-day purchase-order issues, escalating supplier-performance issues
  • Monitor execution of planning strategy and goals
  • Lead and support disposition of slow-moving and obsolete materials
  • Ensure vendor returns are processed on time
  • Analyze data, perform root-cause analysis, and report key performance metrics
  • Monitor and plan new material items; accurately enter item attributes in JDE
  • Provide planning information during new-product introduction processes
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls
  • Monitor and communicate data-integrity issues
  • Ensure required JDE parameters are set for assigned items or supply categories
  • Follow food safety policies, procedures, SQF code, GMPs, FSMA, and associated preventive controls
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering (or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Planning or Purchasing)
  • Purchasing experience required
  • 5-10 years of experience in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering preferred
  • CPM, CSCP, or CPIM certification preferred
  • Relevant JDE experience highly preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Knowledge of material planning procedures, requisitions, purchase orders, and planning terminology
  • Analytical problem solving capability
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage change effectively
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • General supply chain knowledge including planning and inventory management
  • Previous experience in Food & Beverage industry
  • Must follow food safety policies, procedures, and regulatory criteria including SQF code, GMPs, and FSMA preventive controls
  • Travel may be required
