About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage and develop the Education, Communications and Outreach, and Social Value function for the contracts
Ensure strategic project plans are delivered to a high standard with measurable results
Work with the Area ECO Manager and lead ECO and Social Value Officers
Develop community engagement and social value projects to change resident behaviours, improve recycling rates and embed contracts within local communities
Manage project budgets, timelines and delivery quality
Act as day-to-day contact for clients and site management teams
Develop staff wellbeing events and engagement with local contract teams
Build relationships with Royal Borough of Kingston, Merton Council, Sutton Council, Croydon Council, Veolia operations management and colleagues
Coach and mentor ECO officers on project planning, community engagement and personal goals
Develop and deliver social value initiatives covering local employment, internships, work experience and community funding
Identify good news stories and coordinate with regional external engagement for digital channels and press
Develop and deliver internal communications and engagement campaigns with the Veolia operations senior team
Manage business-as-usual team outputs and the ECO team budget
Provide ECO support to wider contracts as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

Project development and management
People and budget management, which can be project-based rather than direct line management
Experience delivering behaviour change and/or community engagement techniques and analysing results
Superb written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
Experience building strong stakeholder relationships
Passion for sustainability and the environment
Recycling and Waste Industry knowledge
Understanding or experience of working with local authorities
Experience producing visual and textual content across multiple formats
Advanced understanding of data management and analysis
Understanding of PR, social media, social advertising and digital communications
Ability to submit a 1-page cover letter and 2-page CV
