About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work with business units and the Government Relations team to secure timely state regulatory approval of ISO core products, including loss costs, related rules, and statistical data
- Support business units with predictive modeling initiatives
- Support Verisk’s Catastrophe & Risk Solutions team with model review and regulator acceptance
- Build understanding of CRS models and usage across Verisk business units and products
- Visit or maintain regular contact with state regulators to resolve issues and maintain relationships
- Develop and implement strategies for positive regulatory action on new ISO programs and high-priority filings
- Present to state regulators and other audiences to secure regulatory acceptance of ISO initiatives
- Provide actuarial support for regulatory inquiries on ISO filings
- Conduct actuarial peer review of new or modified ratemaking methodologies
- Monitor relevant ASOPs and NAIC activity for impacts on ISO products
- Provide state-specific Government Relations input and filing recommendations
- Foster a positive regulatory environment and support ISO interactions with independent bureaus
- Travel occasionally for industry conferences and regulator visits
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or related majors
- Associate (ACAS) or Fellow (FCAS) of Casualty Actuarial Society
- Minimum 7 years insurance experience desired
- Deep knowledge of regulatory issues, industry, and market desired
- Broad familiarity with most ISO lines of business preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
- Excellent negotiating skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with catastrophe and predictive analytics modeling preferred
- Familiarity with filing process and regulatory concerns preferred
- Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required
- Basic understanding of programming preferred
- Some travel required
