About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join a collaborative Agile Scrum team and take ownership of automated testing
- Design, develop, and maintain automated tests using Cypress.io and BDD practices with Cucumber
- Contribute to migration toward Playwright
- Work with developers, product owners, and business analysts to understand requirements and build test coverage
- Own system, regression, and integration testing across multiple environments
- Validate REST API integrations using Postman or Insomnia
- Create and maintain test cases in QMetry aligned with product requirements and the wider test strategy
- Identify, investigate, and track defects through JIRA
- Partner with developers to reproduce issues and determine root causes
- Define test data and quality benchmarks
- Improve automation and testing practices
- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and quarterly PI planning
- Support release readiness by planning test activity, reviewing release notes, and validating functionality before deployment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Solid hands-on experience in software testing and automation
- Comfortable working as part of an Agile engineering team
- Experience with Cypress.io or another modern test automation framework
- Experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber
- API testing experience with Postman, Insomnia, or similar tools
- Test case management using QMetry or equivalent
- JIRA experience for defect, task, and sprint management
- Experience with system, regression, and integration testing
- Experience working collaboratively with software developers and technical and business stakeholders
- Methodical and curious approach, with strong attention to detail
- Confidence communicating technical issues clearly
- JavaScript or SQL knowledge, or experience working within a Java-based environment
- Exposure to Playwright
- Experience within UK insurance, particularly Motor Claims, Anti-Fraud, Property, or Personal Injury
- Experience with performance or load testing tools such as JMeter or k6
- Experience using AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot
- Experience developing or working with test strategies in regulated or highly compliant environments
