About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, condition monitoring, troubleshooting, corrective repairs, and emergency repairs on power plant electrical production and distribution systems
- Maintain local control systems and PULSE/SCADA systems, computer servers, and interface controllers
- Diagnose problems and repair or replace defective parts
- Maintain electrical, mechanical, and auxiliary power-generation systems for facilities operating at 5–85 MW or greater
- Inspect, operate, maintain, and test medium-voltage switchgear, SCADA, PLC controls, alarms, monitoring, and metering systems
- Operate and maintain fuel receiving and distribution systems, including tanks, pumps, leak detection, inventory, scheduling, and reporting
- Record hourly genset and feeder readings and document faults, leaks, and poor running conditions
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly power plant/electrical distribution reports and CDRLs
- Monitor safety precautions, instruct employees regarding occupational hazards, and ensure compliance with OSHA and NFPA requirements
- Coordinate environmental testing, permitting, and regulatory compliance with US Military and Prime Contractor representatives
- Maintain technical libraries, records, LOTO documentation, permits, switching programs, meter readings, and equipment service records
- Maintain work areas, tools, equipment, and manuals
- Coordinate power plant communications with generator mechanics, operators, and medium-voltage electrical teams
- Respond to emergency power-generation equipment breakdowns and unit outages
- Serve as point of contact with the MV distribution team during switching, feeder energization/deenergization, and fault finding
- Assist with bringing gensets online/offline, synchronizing/paralleling generators, readings, fueling, electrical distribution maintenance, facility maintenance, and housekeeping
- Attend and deliver daily safety meetings and stand-downs
- Ensure repairs, maintenance, and overhauls meet quality, safety, and manufacturer recommendations
- Maintain accountability for staff, tools, manuals, and equipment status
- Support and monitor less experienced operators performing services and minor repairs
- Ensure compliance with US Military, Prime Contractor, Host Nation, and company environmental/Hazmat procedures
- Perform duties outdoors in tropical conditions and work overhead with arms raised for extended periods
- Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 5 years of experience inspecting, operating, monitoring, maintaining, and repairing multi-diesel-driven generator power generation facilities with 5–85 MW or greater output
- Minimum 5 years as a Power Plant Operator
- Computer skills and ability to operate a variety of computer programs
- Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing
- Valid home-country driver's license valid for 12 months from on-site employment date
- Valid home-country passport valid for 12 months from on-site employment date, with at least 6 blank pages before OCONUS mobilization
- Must satisfy USARPAC Force Health Protection Guidance medical requirements for INDOPACOM and maintain an annual Medically Qualified rating
- Must meet Republic of the Marshall Islands COVID-19 entry requirements, including full vaccination and booster
- Ability to follow troubleshooting procedures, use deductive reasoning, isolate faults, and provide step-by-step feedback
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions from supervisors
- Experience providing prime power O&M services
- Familiarity with electrical safety fundamentals based on NFPA 70E
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices for electrical and mechanical trades
- Basic knowledge and current certification in First Aid and CPR
- Training in Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Experience working with other technical staff
- Ability to perform heavy lifting, climb in and out of equipment, crawl, and work outdoors
- Knowledge and proper application of Personal Protective Equipment
- General knowledge of industrial safety and environmental regulations, including OSHA and NFPA 70E
- Ability to read and apply manufacturer manuals, facility documents, drawings, specifications, operating and maintenance manuals, emergency procedures, and safety data sheets
- Understanding of power-generation equipment startup, shutdown, and basic maintenance procedures
- Oral and written communication skills sufficient to produce reports/CDRLs and brief management
- Intermediate Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel required; high-level proficiency preferred
- Certificates and/or willingness to attend formal training
