About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive the evolution of VGS payments and banking technology
  • Work across the payments and banking industry to deliver products for technologists on both sides of the network
  • Create products involving payments messaging, processor integration management, legacy system modernization, security, and compliance
  • Meet with banks, processors, customers, partners, and engineering leaders to map technical problems to business needs
  • Define technical requirements, prioritize features, and create business-aligned roadmaps
  • Manage complex implementation rollouts across multiple continents
  • Ideate a sophisticated, configurable, developer-friendly product interface for payments technologists, implementation specialists, and business stakeholders
  • Support interpretation of ISO8583, ISO20022, and similar messaging formats across protocols
  • Integrate with and build on existing VGS products, platforms, and concepts
  • Communicate new ideas to prospects, customers, executives, GTM leaders, and implementation teams
  • Write technical documentation for online publication and technical RFP presentations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of experience in payments technology as a software engineer, product manager, or related functions
  • Experience launching new initiatives involving designing and building APIs, O11y, private networking, enterprise authentication systems, and other software developer-related technologies
  • Deep experience working in banking and/or payment gateways, directly interacting with networks or acquirer/issuer processors
  • Experience with AS/400 servers, ISO8583, ISO20022, and similar technologies
  • Broad proficiency across the payments ecosystem, including DUKPT encryption, EBCDIC encoding, ISO8583 messaging, observability, and modern software development
  • Deep knowledge of at least one payments-messaging technology
  • Strong knowledge and opinions on software architecture
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills
  • Experience with tokenization, payment processing, or security products (nice to have)
  • BA/BS degree (nice to have)
  • Experience working with GTM teams to bring new products to market (nice to have)
  • Experience working directly in the payments/data tokenization space (nice to have)
