About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build tools used by land managers, fire districts, and utility planners to mitigate wildfire and climate risk
- Build full-stack features in an Elixir, Phoenix LiveView, and Postgres application stack
- Develop applications that present optimization and simulation results in tables, charts, and map layers
- Collaborate with product, design, data engineering, infrastructure, science, and operations teams
- Turn loosely defined problems into high-quality shipped features
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping full-stack web applications
- Hands-on experience turning designs into responsive, accessible UIs
- Experience working closely with product and design partners
- Strong proficiency with SQL and relational databases
- Comfortable working in a fully remote, fast-paced startup environment
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
- At least one of the following: experience building interactive web maps with knowledge of geospatial fundamentals such as projections and spatial data formats; domain expertise in forestry, ecology, remote sensing, fire science, meteorology, or a related field; experience with Elixir and a front-end framework, preferably Phoenix LiveView
- Preferred: experience generating, serving, and consuming raster and vector tilesets (Tippecanoe, MBTiles/PMTiles)
- Preferred: experience with PostGIS or other spatial database tooling
