About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contribute to projects supporting Victoria's transport, planning and land services priorities
- Build technical knowledge and professional skills through mentoring, structured learning and practical workplace experience
- Apply engineering knowledge, skills and fresh ideas to real work at DTP
- Gain practical experience for a career in public service
- Visit project sites and observe delivery of transport, planning and land services projects
- Work across potential engineering disciplines including civil, electrical/electronic, mechanical/mechatronics, systems, and telecommunications/communications engineering
- Potentially support business areas including bridges, network pipelines, maintenance delivery, road maintenance, public transport programs, rolling stock, ticketing, and asset communication and strategy
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduated, or be due to graduate, from an Australian or New Zealand University between 1 December 2024 and 31 January 2027
- Full Australian working rights at time of application
- Ability to work full time
- Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or holder of a valid visa with full working rights for the required period
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and build effective working relationships
- Articulate and confident approach when engaging with stakeholders and presenting information
- Genuine interest in the DTP Graduate Program, the position applied for, and building a career in the public sector
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to analyse issues and identify practical solutions
- Proactive attitude, curiosity and willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Adaptability, resilience and openness to new ways of working
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
