About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contribute to a multi-year transformation of how Victoria's foundational spatial data is produced, maintained and delivered
- Translate customer needs into data and product requirements
- Support analysis, testing and quality assurance of spatial data
- Work across imagery, elevation and 3D data products
- Contribute to datasets supporting emergency management, planning, transport and land administration across Victoria
- Work within the Vicmap team in Data & Digital
Requirements
What you’ll need- Relevant tertiary qualification in geospatial science, surveying, spatial information science/GIS, data science, computer science, information technology, software engineering, information systems, environmental science or a related discipline
- Graduated, or be due to graduate, from an Australian or New Zealand University between 1 December 2024 and 31 January 2027
- Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or holder of a valid visa with full working rights for the required period
- Relevant pre-employment screening and reference checks
- Ability to manage own tasks and keep accurate records
- Ability to draw insights from data and understand the basics of data quality
- Critical thinking and willingness to seek guidance when solving problems
- Basic understanding of spatial data and mapping concepts
- Exposure to spatial data and data infrastructures, databases, platforms and systems through study, placement or work experience (desirable)
- Interest in or exposure to remote sensing, photogrammetry, imagery, elevation or 3D data (desirable)
