About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct compliance monitoring activities and inspections under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act and other CAV-administered legislation
- Conduct residential tenancy investigations, including rental assessments and non-urgent repairs, under the Residential Tenancies Act
- Perform front-line dispute resolution and address consumer concerns through negotiation
- Provide business and community education
- Participate in CAV campaign initiatives
- Contribute to compliance program planning, development and implementation
- Conduct routine, straightforward and sometimes complex inspections using standardised tools
- Prepare reports and draft written correspondence
- Obtain evidence for legal proceedings as directed by CAV
- Issue infringement notices
- Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies, local councils, businesses and community groups
- Work at remote or other office locations across Victoria, including possible overnight stays
Requirements
What you’ll need- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of organisational values and behaviours
- Experience in inspection operations, including planning, development and delivery of outreach activities
- Capacity to apply CAV legislation, regulations, policies and procedures in compliance and enforcement activities
- Demonstrated experience preparing reports and drafting correspondence
- Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external key stakeholders
- Prepared to be appointed as an Inspector under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act
- Prepared to be delegated as an Inspector under the Residential Tenancies Act
- Relevant rights to work in Australia
- For ongoing appointment, Australian/New Zealand citizenship or Australian permanent residency
- Resume and cover letter addressing the key selection criteria, within three pages
