About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and implement individualized service plans using casework methods in Employment Services, Child Care, Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster Care, and Adoptions
- Interpret laws, policies, and regulations for the assigned area
- Monitor, coordinate, and administer assigned programs
- Coordinate services within the area of responsibility
- Interview customers and assess education, skills, abilities, interests, support systems, and other needs
- Inform clients about service-program rules, regulations, and participation rights
- Present cases to determine appropriate services and write and implement service plans
- Provide case management and monitor compliance
- Manage program waiting lists
- Track expenditures, prepare and submit budget estimates, and ensure payment for services
- Complete federal, state, and local planning and reporting requirements
- Coordinate with agencies and participate in multidisciplinary and interagency teams
- Monitor programs in the assigned area
- Serve as a resource to clients and the community
- Provide after-hours on-call coverage and respond to emergencies involving protective services and/or foster care
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field, or a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area
- Experience in the assigned program area and completion of required training programs, or equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Working knowledge of social work principles and practices
- Working knowledge of human behavior and motivational theory
- Working knowledge of laws, policies, and regulations relating to human services program areas
- Working knowledge of social, economic, and health problems
- Skill in operating a motor vehicle and personal computer with associated software
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to interview, assess needs, counsel, and refer clients to resources
- Ability to develop and implement service plans
- Ability to make sound judgments within existing laws, policies, and regulations
- Ability to plan and manage work activities, including reports, correspondence, and record keeping
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
- Ability to stay abreast of trends and developments in social work
- A Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license is desirable, not required
