About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain instrumentation and control systems throughout the facility
- Maintain and support DCS, PLC, HMI, and related control network infrastructure
- Configure, test, tune, and troubleshoot Emerson Ovation and GE Mark VIe control systems and Allen-Bradley PLC systems
- Calibrate and maintain pressure, temperature, flow, level, vibration, analytical, valve, and actuator equipment
- Support turbine control system maintenance and troubleshooting
- Perform loop checks, functional testing, and startup verification
- Analyze equipment performance and recommend reliability improvements
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and test motors, MCCs, switchgear, breakers, transformers, battery systems, UPS systems, and protective relaying systems
- Perform electrical fault investigations and root-cause analysis
- Support preventive and predictive electrical maintenance programs
- Read and interpret one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, control drawings, and electrical construction drawings
- Assist with equipment commissioning and acceptance testing
- Support medium-voltage systems up to 4160V
- Maintain CEMS in compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements
- Perform calibrations, linearity testing, relative accuracy testing support, analyzer maintenance, and data validation
- Troubleshoot emissions monitoring equipment and associated control systems
- Maintain environmental compliance documentation
- Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities
- Identify equipment deficiencies and initiate corrective actions
- Participate in outage planning, execution, and post-outage reviews
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors during maintenance and outage activities
- Use CMMS such as Maximo and Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and SharePoint
- Create work orders, document completed work, track materials, and record labor and equipment history
- Maintain instrument indexes, electrical drawings, control system documentation, P&IDs, and panel schedules
- Develop and maintain maintenance procedures and job plans
- Follow company, environmental, health, and safety policies
- Participate in LOTO, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Arc Flash Program requirements, confined-space requirements, plant safety initiatives, and emergency response activities
- Maintain compliance with NERC, OSHA, environmental, and company standards
- Assist with equipment startup and return-to-service activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 4–6 years of industrial maintenance experience in instrumentation, controls, or electrical systems
- Experience preferably in power generation, refineries, chemical plants, or heavy industrial facilities
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting industrial control systems and electrical equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and control logic documentation
- Proficiency with multimeters, meggers, process calibrators, and loop calibrators
- Successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS / MASS) program required
- Associate degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical Technology, Industrial Controls, or a related technical field preferred
- Combined-cycle power plant experience preferred
- Experience with Emerson Ovation DCS, GE Mark VIe, Allen-Bradley, and other PLC platforms preferred
- CEMS maintenance and environmental compliance experience preferred
- Medium-voltage electrical maintenance experience preferred
- Predictive maintenance technologies experience preferred
- NERC-regulated facility experience preferred
- Electrical licensing or technical certifications preferred
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong computer skills, including CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in elevated platforms, high-noise areas, extreme temperatures, and confined spaces
- Ability to work overtime, rotating schedules, weekends, holidays, and outage assignments as required
