About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Safely and efficiently operate and maintain a 1200 MW combined-cycle power generation facility using GE 7FA combustion turbines, GE D11 steam turbines, and GE Mark VI control systems
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on plant instrumentation, control, electrical, mechanical, and rotating equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve plant instrumentation, control, electrical, mechanical, electronic, pneumatic, analyzer, PLC, and instrumentation issues
- Inspect, repair, install, and remove motors, generators, transformers, switches, circuit breakers, motor control equipment, cabling, buswork, and storage batteries up to 4160 volts
- Tune and calibrate boiler controls, turbine controls, turbine valve actuators, and plant instrumentation
- Maintain CEMS in accordance with state and federal compliance guidelines
- Document and maintain instrumentation, control, electrical, and mechanical maintenance records
- Maintain and revise electrical and controls P&IDs
- Research and coordinate parts procurement with vendors and site administrative staff
- Gain basic operational knowledge of plant systems and operate equipment within specifications; stand in as a BOP operator when needed
- Respond to unit trips, abnormal operating conditions, call-outs, emergent situations, and outages
- Work scheduled shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and overnight travel between stations or for training as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- 4–6 years' experience in an industrial environment
- Demonstrated experience with industrial electrical equipment troubleshooting and maintenance
- Knowledge of proper procedures for cleaning electrical motors, making DC and single- and three-phase AC electrical connections, and performing PM inspections
- General knowledge of station high-voltage switching and relaying equipment
- General electrical and mechanical abilities for equipment repair, replacement, station mechanical operations, and minor modification projects
- General knowledge or understanding of instrumentation calibrations
- Successful completion of the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS/MASS) program
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain electrical equipment up to 4160 V
- Ability to visually read and respond to computer-generated data, instrumentation, gauges, readouts, and color variations
- Ability to read and comprehend mechanical and electrical drawings, specifically P&IDs
- Manual dexterity to operate keyboards, push buttons, dials, valves, and mechanically actuated devices
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout and personal protective equipment procedures
- Must pass respiratory physical and wear required safety equipment
- Ability to attend on-site and off-site training
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate station vehicles and heavy equipment
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, work at extreme heights, and work in confined spaces
