About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Safely and efficiently operate and maintain a 2x1 combined-cycle power generation facility using Siemens 501F combustion turbines, a Siemens KN steam turbine, and Siemens T3000 controls
- Serve as the Continuous Emissions Monitoring system expert, including CGAs, linearities, and fuel gas calibrations
- Perform electrical maintenance and resolve electrical faults in breakers and controllers
- Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate high-voltage breakers, transformers, pumps, motors, transmitters, alarm systems, monitoring and recording equipment, phone/public address systems, pressure switches, solenoid valves, and limit switches
- Identify and resolve equipment issues and write work orders to document required work
- Prepare equipment for service after repairs
- Maintain and revise electrical and controls P&IDs and panel schedules
- Research and coordinate parts procurement with vendors and site administrative staff
- Oversee electrical contractors during day-to-day and outage work
- Work with Siemens T3000 distributed controls system
- Complete failure reporting and document time and materials in Maximo
- Develop understanding of plant processes and take appropriate action when problems are discovered
- Gain operational knowledge of plant systems and operate equipment within specifications
- Respond to unit trips, abnormal operating conditions, callouts, outages, and emergent situations to maintain safe plant operation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience with industrial electrical equipment troubleshooting and maintenance
- 4-6 years' experience in industrial environment required
- Demonstrated knowledge of procedures for cleaning DC and AC electrical motors, making electrical connections on DC and single- and three-phase AC circuits, and performing PM inspections
- General knowledge and/or understanding of station high-voltage switching and relaying equipment
- Demonstrated general electrical and mechanical abilities for equipment repair, replacement, station mechanical operations, and minor modification projects
- Demonstrated effective verbal/written communication skills
- Must successfully pass the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS/MASS) program
- Ability to read and comprehend mechanical and electrical drawings, specifically P&IDs
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout and personal protective equipment procedures
- Must pass respiratory physical
- Must possess manual dexterity to operate keyboards, push buttons, dials, valves, and mechanically actuated devices
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights and in confined spaces
- Must be able to attend on-site and off-site training
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate station vehicles and heavy equipment
- Ability to work in temperature extremes, high noise levels, dust, fumes, confined spaces, and around pressurized and energized equipment
- Must be able to work overtime, call-outs, outages, and weekends as needed
- Two-year Electrical/Mechanical Technology Degree (desired)
- Experience maintaining 480 V, 4160 V, 18 KV, and 230 KV electrical equipment (desired)
- Experience maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting instrumentation and controls (preferred)
- Experience with combined-cycle plant processes and equipment (preferred)
- Prior Siemens 501F combustion turbine experience (preferred)
- Prior Siemens KN steam turbine experience (preferred)
- Experience with rigging, signaling, and crane/hoist operations
- Experience using hand tools and technical shop test equipment
- Experience operating electric plant water treatment systems
- Experience with mechanical maintenance on powerhouse equipment
- Experience with microprocessor-based systems, distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, smart relays, smart transmitters, station databases, workstations, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing programs
