About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operate, monitor, and control all power plant systems from the Control Room
  • Execute plant shutdowns and startups
  • Respond to alarms and equipment issues
  • Coordinate maintenance and work with current plant conditions and commercial commitments
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance at a gas plant
  • Promote safe, effective, and reliable plant operation
  • Troubleshoot plant equipment
  • Perform daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repairs/replacements, and removal/installation of plant equipment and structures
  • Perform LOTOV clearances under the direction of a senior operator or supervisor
  • Operate hand, power, precision, and machine tools
  • Maintain knowledge of electronic control systems and computers
  • Follow safety and environmental regulations, including Lockout Tagout, Job Safety Analysis, Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, and PPE
  • Progress skills within the primary skill set and complete Tier 2 job performance measures
  • Demonstrate continual improvement in job skills and knowledge

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 2–4 years of related experience
  • Power plant experience preferred
  • Satisfactory completion of Tier 1 job performance measures covering Operations, Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrument and Controls
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Standard computer-based skills
  • Effective oral and verbal communication skills
  • Independent troubleshooting knowledge
  • Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Successful candidate on the Plant Operator Selection System/Power Plant Operations and Maintenance (POSS/MASS) program
  • Flexibility to changing conditions and situations
  • Ability to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations
  • Ability to access confined spaces, high elevations, hot areas, stairs, and ladders as required
  • Ability to visually read and respond to computer-generated data, instrumentation, gauges, readouts, and color variations
  • Manual dexterity to operate keyboards, pushbuttons, dials, and valves
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to pass respirator physical and fit test
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and documents
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multitask
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management
  • Ability to manage relationships with vendors and contractors
  • Successful completion of the POSS/MASS pre-employment test
