About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze and implement generation technologies for Vistra operations or commercial development
  • Manage programs and projects to enhance commercial availability of new technologies and existing technologies
  • Develop and implement long-term life cycle management strategies for the Vistra nuclear fleet
  • Create long-range plans for component replacement and refurbishment, including timelines and critical milestones
  • Inform Vistra of future budgetary needs based on long-range plans
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop major outage and preventative maintenance work scope
  • Oversee asset tracking and management throughout the asset life cycle
  • Coordinate with supply chain partners to ensure long-term availability and reliability of critical components and materials
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
  • Identify and integrate emerging technologies and best practices to enhance fleet efficiency
  • Evaluate the impact of new technologies on long-range plans and component life cycles
  • Provide technical support on a fleetwide basis
  • Explain technical information to ensure work and repairs are completed correctly

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS or greater in an Engineering discipline
  • Preferred disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or additional years of experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of current and pending regulatory, code, and general industry issues
  • Proficiency with technical evaluation processes
  • Proficiency in nuclear plant technologies
  • Preferred 8 years of experience in power plant operations, engineering, or comparable industries
  • Application of fundamental scientific principles
  • Effective communication with peers, management, and outside agencies
  • Ability to execute projects and strategies with some oversight
  • Demonstrated high performer through consecutive evaluations or work history for external candidates
  • Candidates with all levels of education and experience are encouraged to apply
