About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own architecture, product decisions, and hands-on delivery on a small senior engineering team
Build and maintain an established multi-tenant SaaS platform
Use AI coding agents to delegate implementation and rigorously review and correct their output
Make architectural and domain decisions, design prompts and context, and review implementation quality
Work across product features, data plumbing, and architecture
Engage directly with stakeholders and end users
Challenge requirements and optimize for outcomes rather than tickets
Surface risks early and propose alternatives
Collaborate with customers when it speeds up decisions
Work with the CTO on architectural decisions and domain questions
Follow established CI/CD, code review, and branching practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

Senior-level experience: 10+ years shipping production software end-to-end across backend and frontend
Genuine experience delivering multi-tenant SaaS at scale
Experience with releases and migrations without downtime, performance under real load, per-customer configuration, and monitoring
Fluent, daily use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar
Strong architectural understanding of system boundaries, data flow, integration patterns, and trade-offs
Ability to justify designs independently and revisit decisions when needed
Proactive, customer-driven product behavior
Hands-on proficiency in Python and TypeScript/React
Fluent English; engineering team working language, codebase, and documentation are in English
Finnish is a strong plus but not required
FastAPI, Next.js, and PostgreSQL knowledge is desirable
Disciplined separation of data access from business logic using a repository pattern or equivalent is desirable
Relational database and data-modelling skills, including complex SQL, performance tuning, and schema design, are desirable
Experience with data-heavy application UX such as grids, filters, aggregations, and export is desirable
Domain experience in a regulated, reporting-heavy industry such as environmental, energy, or logistics is desirable
