About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead Vizient’s market and client research capability within the Office of Strategy Management Strategic Market Research & Industry Insights function
- Establish the research agenda and lead the design, execution, synthesis, and communication of secondary research and targeted primary and quantitative studies
- Deliver the function’s highest-priority research on healthcare markets, client needs, market drivers, demand, emerging opportunities, and strategic uncertainties
- Own and personally deliver the market research fact base, market-driver framework, and integrated market perspective for the Vizient Market Outlook, Environmental Assessment, and 3–5+ annual strategic briefs
- Translate evidence into trends, strategic questions, trade-offs, risks, and decision implications
- Ensure the strategic market perspective is grounded in rigorous research and aligned with organizational research functions
- Lead strategy-driven client research with Marketing Insights and Product to understand evolving client needs, unmet needs, and willingness to adopt
- Integrate trends and findings into a coherent healthcare market perspective with business leaders
- Lead research readouts and decision-support sessions for interpreting findings, testing assumptions, reconciling qualitative and quantitative evidence, and determining next actions
- Provide research foundations for integrated opportunity assessments and environmental scenario planning
- Build research delivery capability through quality standards, methodology and source-evaluation protocols, documentation practices, and AI-enabled research workflows
- Author or quality-assure major deliverables and serve as a senior market research authority translating evidence into strategic decisions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Relevant degree preferred; Master’s Degree preferred
- 10 or more years of relevant experience required
- Broad and deep knowledge of the U.S. healthcare industry and its stakeholders
- Significant experience leading and directly delivering primary and secondary market research and healthcare industry research
- Advanced knowledge of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research
- Experience with research design, sampling, interviews, surveys, segmentation, regression or other multivariate methods
- Working knowledge of databases and data structures
- Ability to translate strategic questions into researchable questions and carry research from methodology selection through evidence evaluation, synthesis, and delivery
- Ability to identify bias, confounding, limitations, and data-quality issues
- Ability to synthesize diverse analyses, client signals, and research findings into strategic implications
- Experience operating as a hands-on player-coach who personally delivers high-priority research, builds team capability, manages capacity, establishes trust with leaders, and facilitates evidence-based decisions
- Experience using AI-enabled research tools and workflows, with judgment to validate and audit AI-generated sources, methods, analyses, calculations, and conclusions
- Advanced written, verbal, facilitation, and executive-presentation skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
