About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Grind ductile iron castings to remove excess material
- Clean casting surfaces to prepare for further processing
- Inspect castings for defects, cracks, and dimensional accuracy
- Operate grinders, pneumatic tools, and shot-blasting machines
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and inspection plans
- Use calipers, gauges, and tape measures to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Wear proper PPE and comply with all safety standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Report to the Department Supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School graduate or GED preferred
- Forklift and Crane certification preferred
- Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals
- Proficient in using measuring tools such as rulers and tape measures
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Blueprints preferred
- Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and pushing, pulling, or lifting objects for the duration of the required scheduled shift
- Use hands and arms to operate tools, handle materials, and reach for the duration of the required scheduled shift
- Regularly lift and carry 30–35 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Required close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
- Hearing abilities necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively
