About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Grind ductile iron castings to remove excess material
  • Clean casting surfaces to prepare for further processing
  • Inspect castings for defects, cracks, and dimensional accuracy
  • Operate grinders, pneumatic tools, and shot-blasting machines
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and inspection plans
  • Use calipers, gauges, and tape measures to verify dimensions and tolerances
  • Wear proper PPE and comply with all safety standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Report to the Department Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School graduate or GED preferred
  • Forklift and Crane certification preferred
  • Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Proficient in using measuring tools such as rulers and tape measures
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Blueprints preferred
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and pushing, pulling, or lifting objects for the duration of the required scheduled shift
  • Use hands and arms to operate tools, handle materials, and reach for the duration of the required scheduled shift
  • Regularly lift and carry 30–35 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Hearing abilities necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively
