About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Direct and motivate the production team day to day, emphasizing employee safety and product quality
Champion safety through direct instruction and employee monitoring
Ensure employees follow applicable policies, regulations, and safe work practices
Monitor work for compliance with established procedures, standards, and customer specifications
Identify and quarantine non-conforming product and take corrective action
Plan and execute work to meet delivery and completion commitments
Meet production goals within material and labor targets
Maximize productivity through effective planning and execution
Identify cost-reduction opportunities by improving processes, controlling labor and overtime, and reducing waste
Ensure time and materials are accurately reported
Develop employees through coaching, mentoring, training, and development opportunities
Apply company policies and rules consistently and fairly
Consult with other departments to improve team effectiveness and morale
Maintain effective communication and cooperation with the team and other organizational groups
Follow environmental procedures, practices, and policies
Assign tasks to support the Environmental Management System and promote continual improvement
Perform other duties as assigned
Report directly to the Production Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need

Post-Secondary education with diploma or degree in Manufacturing / Production is preferred
One to two years experience in supervisory role or similar level preferred
Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
Experience working in a team environment
Experience preparing and processing manufacturing schedules / production
Strong interpersonal / communication skills with the ability to motivate others
Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in an efficient manner
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or climbing
Ability to lift or handle up to 25 pounds at times
Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision; ability to adjust focus
Ability to travel occasionally, including walking, standing, sitting, and driving for short to extended periods
