About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Bend, curve and surface rail for switch point stock rails and traffic using a hydraulic horizontal press
  • Perform minimal deburring of rail with a hand grinder
  • Read and follow the production schedule
  • Safely operate jib and overhead cranes
  • Heat rail with torches according to work instructions
  • Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School graduate or GED preferred
  • Forklift and Crane certification preferred
  • Ability to read work orders, ITP’s, blue prints, rulers and tape measures
  • Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals
  • Ability to safely operate jib and overhead cranes
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and pushing, pulling, or lifting objects for the duration of the required shift
  • Use hands and arms to operate tools, handle materials, and reach for the duration of the required shift
  • Regularly lift and carry 30–35 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Required close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Hearing abilities necessary to perform job tasks safely and effectively
