About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide expert building enclosure consulting services to local and national clients
- Act as the primary client contact on new construction and existing-structure projects
- Design, evaluate, and consult on below-grade waterproofing systems, plazas and podiums, exterior walls, fenestration systems, and roofing assemblies
- Perform condition assessments, investigations, design, peer review, bid phase services, construction administration, testing, and other building envelope services
- Perform investigations and prepare reports documenting observations, findings, and repair recommendations
- Perform or review condition appraisals, develop repair schemes and recommendations, and prepare opinions of probable construction costs
- Produce building envelope construction documents and support projects through construction
- Perform construction administration, including RFI and submittal reviews, site visits, field observations, and punch list inspections
- Meet with architects, contractors, and clients to review investigations, designs, construction progress, and technical recommendations
- Assist with peer and office reviews and perform progress reviews to ensure quality
- Participate in field investigations and testing using hoses, testing equipment, and other field materials
- Monitor project budgets and schedules and address discrepancies
- Support client relationships and business development, including RFQ/RFP responses
- Serve as a trusted technical resource to clients
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Architecture from an institution accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)
- 4+ years of building envelope and waterproofing experience
- Knowledge of exterior systems and materials, including facades, roofing, waterproofing, and windows
- Experience with both new construction and evaluation of existing structures
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., including hoses, testing equipment, and other field materials
- Ability to supervise professional and support staff, including outside consultants
- Ability to manage client relationships and maintain communication after project completion to secure possible future work
- Collaborative, client-focused mindset and interest in business development
- Ability to compile strong RFQ/RFP responses
- Willingness to travel as needed
