About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Java running on AWS
Build and optimize data processing and reporting pipelines handling large datasets
Use AWS services including S3, Athena, Lambda, SQS, Redshift, and RDS to build scalable, cost-efficient solutions
Own services in production, including monitoring, alerting, performance tuning, and incident response
Collaborate with product and engineering teams across the tribe to deliver merchant-focused features
Contribute to code reviews, technical design discussions, and continuous improvement of engineering practices
Design, build, and operate backend services end to end, from architecture discussions to deployment and monitoring

Requirements

What you’ll need

Solid professional experience in Java backend development (Spring, Quarkus or similar frameworks)
Hands-on experience building and running workloads on AWS
Good understanding of relational databases and SQL; PostgreSQL experience is a plus
Experience with distributed systems, message queues, or batch/stream data processing
Pragmatic approach valuing maintainability, testing, and shipping working software
Fluent command of the English language
A university degree in Computer Science or a closely associated discipline is required
AWS analytics services (Athena, Glue, ETL) experience is nice to have
Familiarity with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) is nice to have
Background in payments, fintech, or other high-volume transactional domains is nice to have
