About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare and conduct research studies
  • Determine and apply appropriate research methodologies and design the required surveys under the supervision of research leadership
  • Recruit the required number of participants with the appropriate profile for each study
  • Facilitate in-person testing sessions, including usability tests, video game playtests, and one-on-one sessions
  • Observe participant behavior and communicate findings to the team
  • Submit daily notes and observations for each test
  • Write research reports and present findings to various development teams
  • Facilitate each video game playtesting and usability testing session in a neutral, unbiased manner
  • Make recommendations based on the findings
  • Assign tasks and coordinate work with research support staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A master’s degree is required in experimental psychology, human-computer interaction (HCI), anthropology, human factors, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of experience in a user research role within the video game industry
  • Contributed to at least 1 shipped AAA open-world action-adventure title for console/PC and 1 premium mobile game
  • Strong knowledge of research design and qualitative and quantitative methodologies
  • Experience independently facilitating large groups
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong knowledge of game design theory and the video game development process
  • Genuine passion for video games in all their forms
  • English proficiency required, both written and spoken
  • Must reside in the Greater Montreal area
