About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide timely and professional support for a 24x7x365 broadcast environment
- Oversee Live Production Incident Management and Request Fulfillment processes
- Manage a team of 10+ broadcast and IT support professionals/field engineers
- Ensure seamless transition of on-air issues and project activities between shifts
- Supervise 24/7 broadcast and IT services supporting live sports and news broadcasts globally
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, development, and performance reviews
- Ensure process compliance and identify service improvement opportunities
- Assist the Director in setting strategy and department goals aligned with News & Sports priorities
- Coordinate field deployment assignments and improve resource efficiency
- Drive adoption of MFP (REMI) kits and workflow changes
- Implement new field technology and best practices
- Travel to sports and news events to evaluate live productions, consult with clients, and identify execution efficiencies
- Ensure field gear readiness for key production events
- Align scheduling and resource availability with commercial objectives
- Provide hands-on engineering during remote productions, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting of contribution and broadcast equipment
- Serve as escalation point and technical resource for complex or critical productions
- Maintain current knowledge of field broadcast technologies and remain deployable as a practitioner
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years' experience in live and news/sport field technology deployments and implementations
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Proven track record supervising high-performing teams with end-to-end ownership of assignments
- Demonstrated follow-through discipline and task ownership
- Prior hands-on experience as a field engineer or in a live production engineering role is required
- Working knowledge of signal flow, contribution workflows, and live broadcast environments
- Collaborative work with cross-functional service delivery teams
- Proactive troubleshooting, problem-solving, and issue avoidance
- Adaptability and flexibility in a challenging, fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and work autonomously under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Experience in budget and expense management
- Demonstrated hands-on technical proficiency with broadcast field equipment
- Ability to physically lift and move equipment weighing 50 pounds or more
- Frequent domestic and occasional international travel
- Minimum three days per week in-office
- Ability to operate independently as a field engineer when required
