About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Sureel's business function and own the business side of negotiations with AI companies, DSPs, digital service providers, and rights holders
  • Report to the CEO and two Co-Presidents
  • Negotiate licensing models, revenue structures, payment flows, and economic frameworks
  • Develop business models and model charging outcomes for DSP and AI-company clients
  • Define commercially viable integrations of Sureel's infrastructure with AI companies and DSPs
  • Create scalable licensing and economic frameworks across partners and markets
  • Structure multi-stakeholder commercial arrangements among rights holders and industry participants
  • Partner with Client Relations on rights-holder relationships, owning commercial terms and deal economics
  • Work with Warner Music Group counterparts on commercial terms, licensing structures, and strategic priorities
  • Provide market intelligence on emerging technologies, competition, licensing innovation, and deal dynamics
  • Represent Sureel with industry and standards organizations, including DDEX and WIPO
  • Develop platform pricing and packaging, including enterprise, API, usage-based, transaction-fee, revenue-share, licensing-administration, analytics, and hybrid models
  • Create repeatable commercial and licensing frameworks
  • Help structure rights, permissions, guardrails, attribution, reporting, and economic obligations in commercial agreements
  • Handle confidential and proprietary information
  • Help shape industry standards and licensing frameworks for programmatic implementation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Deep experience structuring and negotiating commercial agreements in music, media, or technology, including licensing deals, platform integrations, revenue-share structures, or rights-technology transactions
  • Experience owning the business side of negotiations with platforms, DSPs, technology companies, or rights holders, carrying complex deals from term sheet through signature
  • Understanding of music-industry economics, including rights revenue, licensing frameworks, and value flows between platforms, intermediaries, and rights holders
  • Comfort with data and financial detail, including modeling revenue structures and pressure-testing assumptions
  • Ability to structure complex deals for different parties
  • Ability to represent leadership in high-stakes negotiations and make judgment calls on terms
  • Clear written and verbal communication and ability to remain calm in a fast-moving environment
  • Understanding of pricing, licensing structures, technical standards, and ecosystem incentives
  • Interest in the music industry and willingness to work in a small, collaborative, startup-paced team
  • Direct experience negotiating with AI companies, DSPs, or other digital service providers (preferred)
  • Experience working with artists, labels, publishers, or CMOs/PROs (preferred)
  • Experience in deal structuring, licensing, business development, commercial strategy, or partnerships (preferred)
  • Involvement in industry licensing, standards, or policy initiatives (preferred)
  • Experience working directly with C-level executives (preferred)
  • Experience developing commercial models for infrastructure, APIs, marketplaces, payments, rights technology, or other platforms (preferred)
