About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and customise Shopify theme sections, templates and features in Liquid
Handle development tickets, including settings and content changes, bug fixes and new functionality
Build configurable sections with well-structured theme settings
Write structured, maintainable, component-based JavaScript
Install, configure and troubleshoot Shopify apps
Work in Git and pull request workflows, including code review
Test theme releases and new features across browsers and devices, including mobile, checkout flows and conversion paths
Maintain test plans, checklists and regression coverage
Test accessibility against WCAG standards
Write reproducible bug reports and verify fixes
Identify repetitive manual testing and help automate it using AI tools where useful
Resolve or escalate storefront and Shopify admin support issues
Investigate issues across themes, apps and integrations
Communicate issue status and resolution timelines to stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need

1 to 3 years of hands-on Shopify development experience at an agency or a brand running on Shopify
A portfolio of Shopify work
Solid understanding of Shopify themes, including sections, templates, theme settings and Shopify admin
Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Liquid, JavaScript or TypeScript
Familiarity with lightweight client-side frameworks such as Stimulus or Alpine.js
Understanding of responsive, mobile-first development
Experience writing test cases, running regression checks and filing clear bugs
Working knowledge of accessibility best practices and WCAG 2.1 AA
Ability to troubleshoot issues and explain them clearly to non-technical people
Comfortable with Git and pull requests
Experience using AI tools in development or testing workflows
Structured code development using organised files and reusable components
Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ownership of work
Shopify Plus experience, CI/CD experience, test automation tools, visual regression testing tools, front-end build tooling, Shopify CLI or Shopify Admin API are desirable
