About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide on-site network server administration for all USAMRIID physical and virtual servers
- Install server hardware and operating systems
- Reinstall and upgrade operating systems
- Maintain, sustain, and harden servers to meet cybersecurity requirements
- Apply monthly OS patches across multiple platforms, including NIPR and RSN
- Install and maintain server application software and create and maintain printer queues
- Add and maintain folder and file permissions
- Troubleshoot file access, server, and printer problems
- Monitor server event logs and Trellix/McAfee on servers
- Sustain VMware servers and related virtual technologies at 99.9% availability
- Provide on-call support during non-business hours
- Provide network engineering support for connectivity issues, outages, and server-environment degradation
- Create and maintain Active Directory user accounts, security groups, and server/computer accounts
- Troubleshoot user account problems for approximately 1,000 NIPR and 1,000 RSN accounts
- Provide local support for DoD Enterprise Email account issues for approximately 1,000 accounts
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active SECRET security clearance
- Minimum 5 years’ experience
- Security+ certification
- In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems and command-line tools
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies
- Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or KVM
- Certifications in Linux administration, such as LPIC or RHCE (preferred)
- Ability to support on-site network server administration for physical and virtual USAMRIID servers
- Knowledge of RHEL7/8 or greater, Windows Server Operating Systems, VMware/vCenter Server environments, Veeam Backup and Restore Systems, and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) testing and evaluation mission
