About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Obtain insurance information, referral forms, and counsel patients on financial assistance over the phone
  • Schedule and register patients by phone or email without patient contact
  • Communicate with physicians and clinical staff regarding urgent or referred patient scheduling requests
  • Collect patient demographics and insurance registration information
  • Review and update new-patient schedules
  • Call patients with appointment reminders
  • Process internal physician referrals for clinical care
  • Explain billing processes to patients and staff and answer inquiries from patients and third-party payers
  • Assist with basic account maintenance activities
  • Assist patients with insurance questions regarding billing
  • Send reminder cards and perform other scheduling duties
  • Work with Relatient patient reminder system results and contact patients or make scheduling changes
  • Make daily edits and temporary changes to provider scheduling templates based on physician input
  • Work in a normal office environment, typically sitting at a desk or table with repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience
  • 3 years of relevant experience
  • No specific certification/professional license is required
  • Driver's license is not required
  • Experience or knowledge of billing systems, customer service, Epic EHR, financial information, insurance, medical office support, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, organizing, prioritization, scheduling, and third-party claims
  • Ability to complete required pre-employment screening, including criminal background check and applicable additional checks
