About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct patient care at Otolaryngology clinics, including assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, observations, and recommendations during office visits and by phone.
- Provide patient education and explain procedures and process.
- Disseminate patient care information to appropriate sources.
- Collaborate with neurotology, pediatric otology, audiology, surgery schedulers, medical assistants, nurses, providers, and care team members in cochlear implant and osseointegrated pathway navigation.
- Triage cochlear implant referrals and support scheduling and implant pathways for new patients.
- Identify insurance and audiometric criteria needs and navigate patients through testing.
- Coordinate imaging needs and send order forms to operating rooms.
- Coordinate and oversee device ordering with audiology and operating room procurement teams.
- Coordinate delivery of cochlear implant externals to appropriate audiology sites.
- Serve as key contact with device company representatives.
- Assist with insurance appeals and peer-to-peer processes.
- Attend meetings with physicians, audiologists, and surgery schedulers.
- Serve as resource navigator for practice coordinators, nurses, surgery schedulers, audiology technicians, audiologists, and physicians.
- Build and support the implantable devices equipment process, including new orders and upgrades.
- Serve as a PRN Audiologist when coverage is needed.
- Oversee implantable devices program data management and identify growth opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's degree - Audiology.
- AuD degree.
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.
- Basic Life Support certification with a skills assessment component; online BLS certifications without skills assessment are insufficient.
- Certified Audiologist.
- Missouri and Illinois audiologist licenses.
- Acceptable credentials include ABA Certified Audiologist, Audiologist - Missouri Division of Professional Registration, Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A), and Licensed Audiologist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Three years of Cochlear Implant experience and knowledge of the navigation/insurance process preferred.
