About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides direct specialty nursing and medical care in endocrinology
- Obtains patient histories and performs patient assessments through observation, interview, and examination
- Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies
- Performs preventive health assessments, screenings, immunizations, and care
- Treats and manages acute and chronic disease conditions
- Develops and implements patient-centered care plans with physicians, patients, consultants, nurses, ancillary providers, and others
- Manages health conditions through prescriptive authority or referrals
- Performs diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification and state regulations
- May bill services covered by the collaborative practice agreement
- Counsels and educates patients and families/caregivers
- Maintains accurate medical records and required reports, records, and statistics
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic patient environment
- Provides management services for clinical research projects and monitors participating subjects
- Follows departmental, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection-control standards
- Participates in quality and process improvement activities
- Enhances professional growth through educational programs, literature, meetings, and workshops
Requirements
What you’ll need- M.S.N. – Master of Science in Nursing – Nurse Practitioner
- APN licensure or ability to successfully obtain licensure within three months of date of hire
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; online certifications without a skills assessment component are insufficient
- Certain/additional certifications may be necessary based on area of specialty
- Clinical decision making, clinical diagnostics, disease management, Epic EHR, HIPAA compliance, patient care, patient education, pharmacology, preventive care, and related listed skills
- Ability to perform essential functions satisfactorily
- Successful completion of required pre-employment screening, including criminal background check and applicable checks, drug screen, employment and education or licensure/certification verification, physical examination, vaccinations, and/or governmental registry checks
