About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver psycho-social support interventions to assigned family caregiver caseloads through scheduled telephone or video sessions
  • Use personal caregiving experience to build rapport, provide emotional support, validate experiences, and model coping strategies
  • Share practical information and connect caregivers with relevant services and resources
  • Document session notes, contact logs, fidelity measures, and required data accurately and on time
  • Recognize caregiver distress or risk and escalate according to established procedures
  • Complete intervention training and participate in supervision, case review, and team meetings
  • Protect participant confidentiality and comply with IRB, HIPAA, and study regulatory requirements
  • Update the study coordinator and principal investigator on caseload status and scheduling
  • Contribute the peer perspective to refining intervention materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience
  • Personal lived experience as a former family caregiver for a relative or close friend with Alzheimer's disease
  • Willingness and ability to complete study-specific intervention training before delivering sessions
  • Willingness to take part in ongoing supervision and case review
  • Strong interpersonal and active-listening skills
  • Empathy, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriate boundaries
  • Ability to follow intervention protocols and all human-subjects, IRB, HIPAA, privacy, and study regulatory requirements
  • Ability to document contacts accurately and enter data as required
  • Prior peer support, patient or caregiver navigation, or community health work experience is preferred
  • Experience with older adults living with serious illness is preferred
