About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and advise the Provost and office leaders on financial matters, including budgets, forecasts, new initiatives, financial modeling, financial management, and strategic support
  • Oversee financial operations and budgets for the Provost's Office, including Vice Provosts and support staff
  • Manage Workday processes with shared services units in HR and Finance
  • Establish the framework for Workday usage, manage reporting, and review and approve transactions
  • Manage central Provost strategic funds, commitments, available funding, award coordination, and transfers
  • Manage general operational issues including space management, committee support, problem resolution, and continuous improvement
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison between the Provost's Office and Provost-led Central Fiscal Unit finance
  • Ensure consistent financial reporting practices and surface emerging issues for Provost/Central Finance visibility
  • Function as a technical and policy expert on budgetary, financial, accounting, and operational matters
  • Conduct confidential information gathering to support leadership decisions during budget development
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience and proven abilities
  • Demonstrated financial expertise
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills
  • Broad and thorough knowledge of GAAP, not-for-profit accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling and analysis
  • Preferred: CPA and/or Master’s degree in Business Administration or related discipline
  • Preferred: Experience using Workday Finance and HCM systems
  • Preferred: Experience working in an academic environment
  • Preferred: Five years of leadership experience in relevant field(s)
  • No specific certification/professional license is required
  • A driver's license is not required
