About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain and monitor financial models and tracking mechanisms supporting major institutional commitments, investments, and management decisions
  • Ensure commitments are appropriately encumbered, funding sources are identified, and unfunded or underfunded commitments are surfaced
  • Provide ongoing financial monitoring and performance assessment across schools and units, including forecast monitoring and reconciliation
  • Partner with school leaders and business partners to lead periodic financial reviews of schools, units, and programs
  • Identify financial issues and trends and partner with unit leadership on resolution
  • Produce management reporting and trend analysis for the Vice Chancellor and senior finance leadership
  • Provide visibility into institutional financial exposure and obligations
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and management support to the Vice Chancellor and senior finance leadership
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Eight years of related financial management, financial planning and analysis, or institutional stewardship experience in a university, health care institution, or comparably complex organization
  • Strong ability to maintain and interpret sophisticated financial models
  • Working knowledge of university funding sources and restrictions
  • Additional related education can substitute for experience
  • Experience in a higher education environment (preferred)
  • Experience with encumbrance, commitment tracking, or fund accounting systems (preferred)
  • Strong follow-through and institutional persistence to keep tracking mechanisms current (preferred)
  • Risk identification and financial governance skills (preferred)
  • Master's degree (preferred)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (preferred)
  • Ability to travel to on- and off-campus locations
  • Successful completion of required pre-employment screening
