About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a collaborative HR partner between the assigned department and Human Resources
- Provide guidance on HR policies, values, benefits, compensation, and employment laws/regulations
- Consult with unit leadership to improve HR practices
- Advise hiring managers using current HR best practices
- Partner with Employee Relations on complex or escalated matters
- Liaise with the Office for International Students and Scholars on visa and international employment matters
- Manage first-level review, approval, auditing, and reporting of HR transactions
- Coordinate and track visa-related documentation and requests
- Monitor HR service tickets and cases through resolution
- Approve and review Workday HR transactions
- Audit HR transactions and personnel data
- Run and distribute recurring HR reports
- Monitor HR dashboards and metrics
- Collaborate with HR Centers of Expertise
- Facilitate HR initiatives supporting departmental organizational vision
- Provide unit-level context for Employee Relations matters and assist with limited investigations
- Share manager training resources and management best practices
- Support performance improvement and performance management processes
- Assist with succession planning
- Partner with Compensation on equity and market evaluations
- Update and evaluate job descriptions and assist with job evaluations
- Advise on leaves, leave management, and return-to-work best practices
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies with Talent Acquisition
- Assist with applicant screening and sourcing
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding for staff, students, contingent workers, postdoctoral associates/scholars, and contract labor
- Assist with pre-boarding for faculty, adjuncts, students, and temporary staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or a related field or equivalent years of professional experience
- Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education
- 5 years of Human Resources experience
- Ability to perform essential functions of the position satisfactorily
- Successful completion of required pre-employment screening, including criminal background check and applicable additional checks
- Preferred: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Labor Relations, or Human Resources Management
- Preferred: Relevant industry-based HR experience
- Preferred: Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification
- Preferred: 10 years of Human Resources, Recruitment, or Related experience
- Ability to move to on- and off-campus locations
