About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise daily activities of clinical offices, support staff, and ancillary services associated with patient care
  • Supervise support staff across clinical office sites, maintaining workflow, coverage, and schedules
  • Arrange availability of medical records for services
  • Resolve personnel problems, conduct staffing meetings, and document appropriately
  • Interview and hire applicants
  • Supervise training of new employees
  • Conduct job evaluations and performance counseling
  • Make salary recommendations
  • Implement and maintain office procedure manuals and current job descriptions
  • Maintain backup transcription services for academic and research needs
  • Serve as liaison between service providers, patients, clerical staff, and support personnel
  • Provide clerical backup during illnesses and vacations
  • Ensure patient examination areas are staffed and maintained
  • Travel locally to satellite offices as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience
  • Relevant experience (5 years)
  • Medical Assistant certification/registration-eligible graduate or scheduled to graduate from an accredited medical assistant program
  • Substitution: graduate of an accredited nursing program, such as RN/LPN
  • Ability to provide proof of Medical Assistant registration/certification or complete it within six months of hire, or sooner if required by the hiring manager
  • Medical Assistant credentials must be obtained through in-person proctored exams from NHA, AAMA, or AMT; other bodies may require Human Resources approval
  • Online-proctored exams are not sufficient
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire
  • BLS certification must include a skills assessment; online certifications without one are insufficient
  • Communication, medical terminology, organizing, and supervision skills
  • Ability to perform essential functions satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations where applicable
