About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle day-to-day operations assisting staff with insurance matters
- Supervise, advise, and oversee posting, collections, and/or reimbursement functions
- Counsel patients and families on financial assistance options
- Communicate policies and educate staff on billing issues
- Counsel on financial and account-management issues
- Advise department managers on collection issues
- Identify and post missing charges
- Monitor and update monthly collection totals
- Advise affected areas on fees, posting updates, and client billing
- Participate in employee selection, training, supervision, and evaluation
- Inform employees of departmental changes
- Provide coverage in staff areas during illness and vacations
- Assist the IBC team with special projects
- Perform charge posting and insurance verification
- Identify non-contracted plans and insurance issues
- Support process improvement initiatives
- Act as a liaison with clinical lab staff
- Apply comprehensive insurance knowledge in daily operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Strong registration experience
- Experience identifying non-contracted plans
- Experience with insurance verification
- Comprehensive insurance knowledge
- Ability to perform essential functions satisfactorily
- Successful completion of required pre-employment screening for external candidates receiving an offer
