About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Operate Watercare's high voltage electrical network across the Auckland region, covering assets from Warkworth to Waikato
  • Manage live HV work, including isolation and testing, unplanned faults and outages, switching schedules, and isolation plans
  • Ensure safety compliance
  • Lead fault isolation, system restoration, and emergency response activities
  • Provide leadership and coordinate contractors and internal teams across multiple sites
  • Make real-time adjustments to operational plans and switching activities
  • Make safety-critical decisions in the field
  • Maintain accurate records, permit registers, and technical reports
  • Carry out visual and intrusive maintenance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Registered Electrician or Power Technician qualifications
  • Extensive High Voltage switching and isolation experience
  • Experience developing switching schedules and plans
  • Experience with LOTO, permits, and Control of Works systems
  • Experience with substations, HV equipment, and testing instruments
  • Experience collaborating across maintenance, operations, and contractors
  • Strong safety leadership
  • Procedural discipline and integrity
