About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, and test electrical hardware for access control readers and controllers
- Collaborate with the Lead Electrical Engineer across architecture, component selection, and production release
- Create schematics and PCB layouts
- Select components based on cost, lifecycle status, and supply risk
- Simulate and analyze circuits before and after layout
- Tune antennas and characterize RF performance for 125 kHz, 13.56 MHz HF, and BLE interfaces
- Bring up prototypes and characterize power rails and digital interfaces
- Run environmental tests and EMC/ESD pre-compliance scans
- Write design documentation, test reports, and troubleshooting guides
- Support PCBA contract manufacturers by reviewing build reports, resolving assembly defects and yield issues, and root-causing production test failures
- Support manufacturing engineering, firmware, and validation teams on DFX, production test fixtures, security validation, and interoperability testing
- Troubleshoot hardware issues in production and in the field
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of embedded hardware development
- Owned the design and testing of at least one product through production
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools
- Knowledge of microcontrollers, including ARM Cortex-M
- Knowledge of Ethernet, RS-485, I2C, SPI, and UART
- Understanding of power supply design, including buck/boost converters and LDOs
- Experience with RF and wireless technologies, including Bluetooth, NFC, and RFID
- Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally 5 to 20 days per year
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with firmware, product, and manufacturing teams
