About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Guide editorial projects from concept to completion across print, digital, and multimedia products
  • Ensure content meets standards for instructional quality, language accuracy, cultural authenticity, and curriculum alignment
  • Establish and maintain editorial processes supporting quality, consistency, and efficiency
  • Provide feedback and direction to editors, authors, freelancers, and external partners
  • Partner with Product, Instructional Development, Creative Services, Marketing, Sales, and leadership teams
  • Build project plans, timelines, and workflows
  • Communicate progress, priorities, risks, and solutions
  • Balance instructional goals, business needs, delivery timelines, quality, scope, and resources
  • Serve as a key editorial decision-maker guiding strategic priorities and project outcomes
  • Lead and coordinate contractors, freelancers, vendors, and editorial partners
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Support the growth and evolution of the editorial function
  • Apply expertise in language acquisition, curriculum development, and world language instruction
  • Engage with educators and classrooms through conferences, customer engagement, focus groups, surveys, and market-facing activities
  • Shape products reflecting current research, ACTFL standards, and best practices
  • Provide curriculum and content leadership across print and digital programs
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing on customer-facing initiatives and industry events
  • Support editorial budgeting and resource planning
  • Identify and remove obstacles affecting project success
  • Align editorial priorities with organizational goals and evolving business needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Second Language Acquisition, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in editorial leadership or managing editor roles
  • 3+ years of experience leading complex editorial initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
  • Native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English
  • Deep knowledge of ACTFL World-Readiness Standards, proficiency guidelines, and current trends in language education
  • Experience in K-12 educational publishing, world language instruction, curriculum development, or a related field
  • Experience developing and managing print and digital educational products
  • 5+ years of experience teaching Spanish
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and planning skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
  • Comfort leading through ambiguity, change, and evolving priorities
