About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review clients' existing wills, trust documents, and broader estate plans against their goals
- Identify and explain estate-plan misalignments in plain language
- Define concrete next steps and connect clients with appropriate resources
- Apply trust expertise to identify opportunities and gaps across complex, multi-entity estates
- Review insurance policies as part of the overall estate plan
- Act as internal liaison to the Advisor team on complex estate-planning cases
- Support client-facing conversations on sophisticated estate-planning questions
- Build Wealthsimple's estate review and planning process from the ground up
- Integrate the estate-planning process with existing tax and family-enterprise offerings
- Use AI tools to review documents faster, model scenarios, and improve team delivery
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience in estate planning, trusts and estates law, or a related wealth management advisory function
- Legal background with hands-on experience reviewing or drafting wills, trusts, and related estate documents
- TEP designation strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of trusts, including structures, taxation, and use cases across complex estates
- Working understanding of insurance policies and ability to assess their role in an estate plan
- Experience identifying gaps in estate plans and translating them into clear, actionable next steps
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex legal and estate concepts clearly
- Comfort working without an established playbook
- Client-first mentality
- AI-native mindset and enthusiasm for using AI tools
- Bilingual English/French capability is a significant asset
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Location of permanent residence must be provided
- CIRO registration status must be verified
