About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the $124M budget of the college’s academic division
- Assist and advise the Provost and Deans with information and analysis for decision-making
- Develop and oversee all Provost’s Office budgets and funds
- Collaborate with department chairs and administrators on budgeting
- Serve as liaison between the Provost’s Office, academic departments, and the Office of Finance and Administration
- Ensure appropriate use of more than 200 gift funds supporting the academic mission
- Conduct financial and data analysis and develop data-driven recommendations
- Advise academic cost center managers on budget questions, policies, procedures, and deadlines
- Support faculty through internal faculty award committees and train new department chairs on budgeting processes
- Collaborate on budget development and year-end close processes
- Submit Provost’s Office budget and capital requests
- Represent the academic division on the Capital Budget Committee
- Budget and oversee endowments and gifts under the Provost’s Office
- Track gift and endowment balances and review accumulated balances with the Provost and Deans
- Develop proposals for use of new gifts in consultation with the Development Office
- Manage annual administrative salary increase and bonus processes
- Supervise and mentor the Academic Budget and Financial Operations Analyst
- Respond to tickets in the Provost Finance ticketing system as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a role working directly with budgets and financial data
- Accounting or finance background in a higher education environment with restricted gift funding strongly preferred
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future
- Ability to navigate, communicate, and develop complex budgets
- Ability to problem solve and develop new ideas and procedures
- Proficiency in Excel and ability to learn new software/systems
- Knowledge of Workday or similar financial systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaborative working style
- Willingness to engage in transactional work
- Attention to detail
- Flexibility due to essential in-person commitments
