About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Underwrite, originate, and manage a portfolio of commercial real estate loans and investments within Real Estate Banking
- Analyze and underwrite new loan opportunities using market research, internal loan information, client data, and third-party research
- Review and recommend approval or denial of loan requests, lease approvals, collateral releases, letters of credit, reserves or loan holdbacks, extensions, and modifications
- Collaborate with senior portfolio managers and coverage bankers on relationship optimization and deal execution strategies
- Interface with customers to identify needs and maintain relationships
- Perform sponsorship-level and loan-level financial analysis
- Complete property-level analysis and market research
- Present and advocate loan recommendations to credit committee
- Work with outside counsel, internal compliance, and loan closing teams on modifications and new loans
- Review third-party reports and loan documentation
- Review and approve construction loan draws
- Conduct quarterly and annual portfolio reviews to identify potential concerns
- Conduct property tours and site visits
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the local commercial real estate market
- Recommend resolutions for complex situations and exercise independent judgment
- Identify process improvement opportunities within the function
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2+ years of Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
- Experience underwriting various commercial property types including multifamily, retail, industrial, office, hospitality etc.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships while actively participating in the successful execution of complex transactions
- Familiarity with construction, term, bridge, perm, and lines of credit facilities
- Familiarity with recourse/non-recourse, secured/unsecured, and mezzanine financing structures
- Experience evaluating market conditions and identifying appropriate comparable properties
- Ability to apply sound judgment to credit approval, structure, and management recommendations
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, including some advanced accounting and finance functions in Microsoft Excel
- A BS/BA degree or higher
- Ability to travel as needed
- Willingness to work on-site in accordance with current office requirements
- Ability to work additional hours as needed
- This position is not eligible for VISA sponsorship
- Must successfully complete and pass a FINRA background check prior to hire
- Must meet ongoing FINRA regulatory obligations, including periodic screening and mandatory reporting of certain incidents
