About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead complex, consultative sales efforts focused on acquiring new Merchant Services relationships and expanding existing client portfolios
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans to increase revenue, market share, and merchant penetration
- Manage the entire sales lifecycle, including prospecting, needs assessment, solution design, proposal development, negotiation, implementation, and ongoing relationship management
- Partner with Commercial Banking and Treasury Management teams to identify, qualify, and close opportunities
- Serve as a subject matter expert in Merchant Services, payment processing, receivables solutions, integrated payments, and emerging payment technologies
- Build and maintain relationships with executive-level decision makers, including business owners, CFOs, Controllers, and Treasurers
- Leverage market intelligence, competitive insights, and industry trends to identify opportunities and recommend tailored solutions
- Collaborate with product, implementation, risk, operations, and servicing teams on client onboarding and ongoing support
- Influence strategic business decisions through communication, executive presentations, and recommendations
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and product enhancement
- Mentor and support less experienced team members
- Promote Wells Fargo Merchant Services and strengthen relationships across the Commercial Banking organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of Business to Business (B2B) Sales experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
- 5+ years of proven Merchant Sales experience and/or payment processing sales experience
- Demonstrated success selling merchant acquiring, payment processing, receivables, or treasury solutions to commercial clients with annual revenues exceeding $100 million
- Proven track record of developing new business opportunities and consistently achieving or exceeding sales and revenue goals
- Experience managing complex sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders and executive-level decision makers
- Strong understanding of merchant services, card processing, payment acceptance, interchange, integrated payments, payment architecture, and risk considerations
- Ability to develop trusted advisor relationships and influence business decisions at the executive level
- Experience partnering with Commercial Banking Relationship Managers, Treasury Management Consultants, and other enterprise partners to drive revenue growth
- Strong consultative selling, negotiation, business development, and relationship management skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and executive presentation skills
- Experience analyzing client payment ecosystems and recommending customized solutions aligned to business objectives
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a highly matrixed organization
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex opportunities simultaneously
- Ability to work at one of the locations in this job posting
- Ability to travel up to 30% of time
