About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise leadership on applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, and web technologies
- Lead strategy and resolution of highly complex enterprise challenges
- Translate business strategy and engineering constraints into practical technical solutions
- Provide technical vision and direction for major initiatives
- Evaluate emerging technologies for business and engineering advantage
- Build prototypes, working software, reference implementations, and reusable engineering patterns
- Help define AI-native software design, development, testing, modernization, operations, and maintenance
- Simplify architectures and automate repetitive work
- Prototype, test, measure, and scale effective solutions
- Raise engineering capabilities through coaching, pairing, design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on leadership
- Establish AI engineering guardrails covering security, testing, evaluation, observability, data protection, and human oversight
- Move successful prototypes into secure, reliable, production-quality solutions
- Collaborate across Engineering, Product, Architecture, Cybersecurity, Risk, and business teams
- Create patterns, capabilities, and knowledge that improve multiple engineering teams
- Measure outcomes including software quality, delivery speed, operational toil, architecture simplicity, and engineer development
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
- Deep hands-on software engineering experience designing and building complex enterprise applications and distributed systems
- Strong engineering fundamentals across software design, APIs, cloud technologies, data and integration patterns, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, security, reliability, and production operations
- Experience using generative AI and AI-assisted engineering tools
- Experience with large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic systems, tool use, orchestration, and evaluation
- Ability to simplify complex and legacy technology environments
- Experience creating reusable engineering patterns and guardrails
- Ability to influence technical direction across teams
- Strong communication skills
- Track record of developing other engineers through coaching, pairing, technical reviews, and knowledge sharing
- Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn quickly
- Accurate information and supporting documentation for lawful employment and education verification
