About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Guide business leaders through complex employment law matters
- Deliver strategic legal counsel on employment, labor, litigation, and regulatory issues
- Lead or participate in moderately complex initiatives and large-scale planning
- Provide legal advice and represent the Company in complex litigation, negotiations, settlement discussions, and claims
- Manage highly complex claims and litigation
- Advise internal clients on legal risk assessment, planning, policy decisions, claims, probability of loss, and risk mitigation strategies
- Draft complex legal documents and review and negotiate documents prepared by outside counsel
- Resolve complex issues and lead teams to meet deliverables
- Identify and analyze legal issues, develop conclusions, and recommend resolutions
- Develop strategic direction for claims functions and manage related policies, procedures, and controls
- Educate, train, and supervise less experienced attorneys
- Collaborate with peers, colleagues, managers, business clients, and corporate departments
- Lead projects and teams and mentor less experienced staff
- Develop an in-depth understanding of business unit activities and products
- Develop and implement risk management programs with business leaders
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education
- Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States
- Experience as practicing attorney in a law firm, in-house, or regulator providing counsel on complex employment law matters
- Experience handling employment litigation and arbitration matters
- Experience advising on employment issues involving FINRA-licensed employees
- Experience managing state and federal employment law matters
- Experience supporting management-side labor law matters
- Ability to work at one of the posted locations
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule, in office at least 3 days a week
- Travel up to 10%
