About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications and Spring Boot services for application and web server platform capabilities
- Build secure, versioned REST APIs for provisioning, configuration, deployment governance, certificate management, validation, and capacity workflows
- Apply object-oriented design, SOLID principles, design patterns, exception handling, concurrency, dependency management, and performance engineering
- Create automated tests using JUnit, Mockito, REST Assured, and test containers
- Partner with QA engineers on acceptance criteria, test plans, test data, environments, traceability, release validation, and defect resolution
- Integrate build, test, security, code coverage, static analysis, and deployment controls into CI/CD pipelines using Maven or Gradle
- Conduct code reviews, monitor quality metrics and observability, perform root-cause analysis, and use production feedback to improve reliability
- Develop reusable, idempotent Ansible roles and collections for server installation, configuration, JVM tuning, certificates, patching, compliance, and policy enforcement
- Build self-service capabilities for server requests, application deployments, routing, certificates, JNDI resources, and platform metrics
- Participate in Agile planning, estimation, demonstrations, retrospectives, design reviews, release readiness reviews, and production support
- Mentor engineers in Java development, automated testing, secure coding, code review, troubleshooting, and modern software engineering practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education
- 4+ years of software engineering experience delivering production Java applications or backend services
- 4+ years of hands-on Core Java and modern Java versions experience, including object-oriented design, collections, streams, exception handling, concurrency, and common design patterns
- 4+ years of Spring Boot, Spring Framework, RESTful services, dependency injection, validation, security, and API design experience
- Experience with Maven or Gradle, Git-based workflows, pull requests, peer reviews, branching strategies, semantic versioning, and software release management
- Experience integrating automated tests, code coverage, static analysis, security scanning, and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of the SDLC, Agile delivery, secure coding, clean-code practices, documentation, observability, debugging, root-cause analysis, and production support
- 4+ years of experience deploying or supporting application and web servers such as Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, IBM WebSphere Liberty, or NGINX
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
- Desired: frontend development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript, and Angular or React
- Desired: test-driven development, behavior-driven development, contract testing, service virtualization, and performance or resilience testing
- Desired: SonarQube, JaCoCo, Checkstyle, SpotBugs, SAST, dependency scanning, and secrets detection
- Desired: JPA or Hibernate, relational databases, messaging platforms, caching, and asynchronous processing
- Desired: OpenAPI or Swagger, Postman, and automated API test frameworks
- Desired: JVM behavior, memory management, threading, class loading, performance tuning, and application-server internals
- Desired: Kubernetes or OpenShift, containerized Java workloads, and hybrid cloud platforms
- Desired: observability tools and practices, including structured logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, alerting, and service-level indicators
- Desired: Ansible automation using roles, collections, inventories, variables, templates, and Ansible Vault
