About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead complex initiatives, including cross-functional initiatives with broad impact
- Write credit policies with minimal guidance to align with regulatory requirements, the bank’s risk appetite, Wholesale content requirements, and the Policy Management Policy
- Review and analyze complex strategies, programs, and policies with a direct and significant impact on credit risk appetite
- Ensure policies align with regulatory expectations, risk appetite, and governance standards
- Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on credit risk topics and policy governance
- Exercise independent judgment across multiple lines of business and lending types
- Collaborate with peers, colleagues, managers, and business partners to resolve issues and achieve goals
- Interact with internal and external customers
- Collaborate with the business for oversight of risk management
- Interact with Audit, Legal, Control, external agencies, regulatory bodies, and Compliance on risk-related initiatives
- Lead roundtables and serve as a subject matter expert on specific lending topics
- Participate in content creation for Wholesale Credit Policy publications
- Provide perspective and feedback on surveillance programs such as the Credit Policy Exception Program
- Lead resolution of issues and related corrective actions
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of Credit Risk experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education
- Broad wholesale credit experience within a large, regulated financial institution
- Solid understanding of Wholesale Credit Underwriting
- Strong policy-writing capabilities
- Current or prior delegated credit approval authority, including approval of complex credit transactions and provision of effective independent challenge
- Experience in credit policy development and governance
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and build consensus through clear, disciplined credit risk communication
- 3+ years of prior management or senior leadership experience, including leading teams or enterprise-wide, cross-functional initiatives
